Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Question A-2 Upper Receiver.... What to build.....

My son gave me a used AR-15 A-2 Upper Receiver for Christmas.

I've always wanted to buy an AR in the same (or very similar), configuration to what we had when I was in the Army during the 80's. Now, I'm going to build one.

I plan on using the new AR I bought yesterday as the base for this build. I'll find an AR barrel with the 'A frame' front sight and mate it to the A2 Upper....similar to this.

The unused flat top receiver will be the base for a varmint rifle with a 24" bull barrel....similar to this.

What's your thoughts?

I would love a Colt LMG upper, but they are crazy priced.

When I ordered a S&W M&P 15 in 2012 my gun dealer accepted an East Coast legal atrocity with no flash hider, pinned stock and 10 round magazine. I took the opportunity to get a barrel and buffer tube of my own choosing and since I saved a few bucks Fate decreed I should bleed cash anyway. Fate is a cunt.

Now to the point, ESS Solutions in Rhode Island sales barells with A-frames on most of their options. They have 16 and 14.5 lengths and M4 cut chambers. I don’t recall if they have 10 or 20 inch or twist rate options. I ordered mine through Sportsman’s Guide IIRC, it’s been six years.

Anyway back then most of their barells had A-frames.

That's the trouble with having parts laying around. You think to yourself, "Well hell, I've this part, so I might as well build a rifle".
