Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Unhappy Shit! Torsion spring on garage overhead door broke

Well looks like it is gonna be time to work on garage door. Fortunately I have vast experience working on overhead doors. I guess the torsion springs...just break... every now and then... Might as well put new cables on it as well...check all the rollers and bearing blocks... Not like I get a nutt doing it but them guys that come out to work on them wanna throw you down and fuck you outa 100's of $$$$.

I replaced my girlfriends moms single spring that broke with 2 springs......her spring broke and she fucked up the top door panel by trying to open it...bent the shit out of the top panel like a beer can.

It was harder bending back the panel than it was replacing the spring.

I hate overhead doors. I would rather sell a gun to pay for the repair than fuck with it. Give me a clogged shitter any day instead of an overhead door.

Yep the springs are designed to have an industry standard of 10,000 cycles. Most people get 10-15 years out of them with standard use.
The most expensive part of a door system besides the sections are the springs, and the most important.

That's me:

You get your phone, call the nearest garage door guy, pull $80 from your wallet and pay him. Have a beer afterward.

I installed two garage doors at my house about 7-8 years ago. They have the wind up spring instead of the big coil springs on each side of the door. I think the wind up type was easier to install than the older coil spring type. The wind up springs only assist in opening the door. There are no cables that run along the horizontal door track.

My door openers are Genie which have the screw drive.

I have a single windup up torsion spring. I ordered a "premium spring" to replace the old broken one. I have to reinforce the top of my door with some steel as the opener tried to bend the door in half as it tried to open it against the full weight of the door. It is insulated aluminum... so some angle iron and carriage bolts will complete the fix.

I have to replace my garage door with a "county approved-hurricane proof" door and hardware and my insurance bill will be cut in half, but I haven't called anyone yet.
