Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default I got my first gooseberries from my plant

I planted it year before last. It is finally producing. Just a few this year but next year I should have enough for a pie.

I had to look up gooseberries to see what they are. They look to be the size of green grapes(?).

Do they taste similar to any other berry or fruit?

They are quite tart. They make a good pie but you have to use a lot of sugar. Another good unusual fruit is ground cherries, also called Chinese Lanterns.

Do the geese approve of you eating their berries?

I'll bet a goose would eat them. I don't think they have any taste buds.

Gooseberries are good to eat. We usually just eat them right off the bush.

I don't care for them right off the bush. They are too tart for my tastebuds. But I like them in pies.

When you pick them you better be careful and you will still get a few scratches. The thorns on gooseberries are about like greenbriar or wild roses - long and sharp. Goats won't usually kill with those plants. They will eat the leaves but leave the stalk alone.

I've tried a couple of times to get some highbush cranberry plants started but the dang rabbits eat them off at ground level before the plant get big.

Anyone know if Elderberries are good eating?

The state forestry dept is selling Black Elderberry trees for $80/49 trees and I was thinking about planting them on the back of my property for privacy as they are going to develop behind me, eventually.

If I am going to water a tree, I want something in return for the effort, which is why I primarily plant fruit trees.

Elderberry isn't very sweet and is tart. It makes good wine though. It attracts some birds too.

The people next door had a bush when I was growing up. I haven't eaten one since.
