Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Thumbs down An Update on CMP 1911 Prices and Grades from CMP Chief Operating Officer Mark Johnson

Unfortunately, no surprises there.

The CMP has adopted the gun show pricing mentality. They don't care about anything other than making a buck and hosting little rifle tournaments for the select few who gobble up the CMP poo with both hands.

The last head of the CMP was an arrogant prick. From what I hear the new one isn't any better.

I do not need a worn out gun for a thousand bucks.

Damn my bro here in town was trying to sell me a WWII serialized numbered colt .45 ACP in about 70% condition for $750 I should have grabbed it looking at those prices.

Yes. Check in gunbroker and you will see he was offering you a deal.

Of course you would be better served by a NIB gun with night sights......

$1000 isn't too unreasonable for a 1911. The two surplus pistols I purchased are in exc llent condition and far less than $1000.

The P64 I got from Aim Surplus was as fast as I can tell unfired and uncarried. It had NO odor of powder or cleaning or any scratches or markings of use. Of course, I changed that with Wolff springs!! Great shooter.

I also got a TTC from Aim which is in good condition but does have some marks from being used.

The CMP had a good reputation and I'm sure that there are plenty of 1911 pistols out there to be had. Having it mailed to you is a bonus.

Just think of the government weapons we are missing out on simply because we are NOT messican cartel members.

Other events yes. One of theirs, no. I'm speaking particularly of those I frequently read articles about published in the Garand Collectors Assn. Quarterly. They never fail to babble on about the CMP and their events like they're God's gift to the world. Maybe they are. Or maybe the contributors of those articles just like sucking up in the hopes of getting an inside deal. My "attitude" is mainly at what has become of their operation and the price gouging for firearms and surplus ammo that should be sold to the public at just enough to stay in operation. We the tax payers afterall already contributed to the purchasing of that stuff once already.

My opinion of course.

The DCM is not a government supported entity. It is a corporation that has to pay for itself. It has received rifles and accoutriments form the government that were surplus but the government would not sell itself. It would dispose of stuff by destruction. CMP puts on extremely well run matches of several kinds and a ton of people shoot in them all across the county. They have matches that no one else will bother with but are well attended.

I don't agree with their pricing on a lot of their stuff but they do fill an important place in the competitive marksmanship market. They aren't squeaky clean but they are not bad either. If you don't like their prices, don't buy their stuff.

There is no DCM. It is now the CMP. I have been associated with them in one way or another since the 1960's. Yes I have purchased a ton of things from them. Yes, I shot in Service rifle competitions for many years...including the National Matches where I met Carlos Hathcock. It's a 2 hour drive for me to where their warehouse/sales room is near Camp Perry/ Sandusky. The Matches at CP are hosted by ORPA, the Ohio Rifle and Pistol Association. In other states...it is other State organizations.
