Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

My favorite is the 94, any time I can buy one reasonably Ill always make room in the safe for another.

...but neither was overly effective, except on un armored human bodies.

6.5 x 50mm Arisaka firing the 140 gn solid steel core jacketed AP will not pierce a 1" piece of normal steel.

Have never tested the 6.5 mm Carcano, as I have never had any Carcano AP.

All this talk is not lessening my desire to get another in the Swede caliber. If I succumb to weakness, what's my best bullet for deer and 'yotes with an occasional wild pig thrown in?

I was not trying to dissuade you from buying one, merely pointing out that as a combat weapon it is less, not totally ineffective, but less effective than 30 cal, 7.7mm 7.92mm, 8mm or any of the larger rounds.

Generally I would say that any 140 gn, or larger JSP could be effective on Bambi, the question becomes, is the weapon useful elsewhere?

I think that the days of single purpose weapons is rapidly coming to a close. We are soon going to need multi task weapons, IE ones we can use for multiple tasks.

The Swede use it on Elk & the Scandinavian`s use it on Reindeer and Moose, so it is certainly capable of taking the big ones.......

Yup. Almost as flat as a .270, but hits with alot of foot-lbs downrange. Dropped lots of game in Georgia with mine.

Basically, the 6.5 Swedish is one of the most accurate "ready-made" sniper/DMR type rifles you can get that shoots straight right out of the box.

I won't quibble with the those who put a lot of conditions to define what a sniper rifle is. I will say that you can typically get to 1 moa @ 100 yards with the proper load from a gun in good repair without too much trouble from a bench rest. In many cases, multiple loads will get to 1 moa.

Whether or not YOU need to add ghost ring sights, scopes, etc is a separate question. The GUN is very capable.

Most any firearm has potential, it just needs an operator who can bring out the best.

By far 6.5 Sweed is one of my all time favorite rounds EVER!!! I have 4 , 6.5 sweeds and wouldn't sell any of them for love or money. Sadly there all sporters I've de-Bubaed over the years.

One I've had sense 1964, a 06 model with a full length stock I built from scratch. It may very well be my first build now I think about it. I can't even tell ya how many deer and yotties I've taken with that gun over the years!! A bunch ,,I'm going to have to say,, it's a keeper.

I don't have a single stock Sweed though but would love absolutely to find an original decent one ,weather it needs some restoration or not. Most I've seen are sporters and decent original stocks are tough to find. I might have room to squeze 1 or 2 more in he safe though,,,should any of you ever want to sell a original matching # one,,,

Hint Hint!!
