AIM recently listed brand new steel Croation AK 30 round mags @ $10.95 per, didn't see a quantity discount but they're shiny and new.
BHO feature that I've never tried but for the price I'm going for a pouches worth. |

Now you have to hole the bolt carrier back with one hand while inserting another mag in. To much time. Like my LRRP friend told me "Their are two people in the world, the quick and the dead." |

FWIW, Apex has these same mags for the same price sealed for storage and I can cut the sales tax since they have a few other smalls I could use. |

I've never seen that as a big plus, either. I'm sure they had their reasons for it, though as they sure made a mess of them. If the AK's had a system where the bolt stayed open after the last round and the magazine was removed. like so many other weapons do, I could see it.

Make your own if you like them WWes.
https://www.google.com/search?q=maki...ih=961&dpr=0.8 Top left picture, it is so easy. Just take down the bumps inside the mag near the top, take yah 2 minutes with a dermal. Done. Some people may like it? I just grabbed the Yugos for collection purposes. |

I grabbed then because they were cheap and either new or in excellent condition. I'm not a collector of such things and changed out a lot of the followers. They do seem a touch heavier and better built than a lot of others.

I'm really only in it for price and condition, I first heard of the BHO's a few years back and it did seem rather pointless. And I have zero Yugo/Croation mags in the collection so there's my justification. I really don't buy much for myself but having lived through capacity bans, shortages, and crazy prices.
Well, you know the deal. At the price they can't go down in value. Looking to snag one of those pricey steel Romanian 5.45 mags just for authenticity sake. I paid as much for my first steel Tantal mag years ago, I've never even loaded it. |

I got some of those Yugo/Serbian mags back when they were $5. Some of them have crosses scratched into them, and other things.
One of my favorite AK builds has the receiver slightly tighter toward the back, which gives it a natural bolt hold open when I pull it back all the way. It doesn't interfere with operation at all, but is pretty handy. I just slightly tap the bolt handle to send it flying forward. It was a mistake in my bending the flat, but it works like I planned it that way.
