Price check on 1911A1 Remington Rand
Just came from my favorite gun store and was shown a 1911A1 Remington Rand stamped "Property of US Army", bluing is about 40%, no rust or dings, it was packed away since the 1960's, they just took this pistol in and hadn't cleaned it up or priced it yet.
Any idea what this Pistol should sell for? I might want to buy it. |

My WAG is that they'll put a price tag on it for around $800 or higher.

if you could get it for 800 that would be cool i think. Be careful they multiply.

See if it has NRA stamped on it any where if so it is worth a lot . I think back then as an NRA member you could buy them much like the CMP sells rifles now .

I bought a 1943 RR "US Army" back in December. I didn't pay near $800 for it. But I have seen them at gun shows for more than $800 that weren't in great shape.

gunny: Remington Rands produced in 1942 and most of 1943 had the du-lite blued finish. From Late 1943 on they were parkerized.

Thanks DGR. Here's a site with some info about RR's if you don't already know about it. The one I have has the Type 2 slide marking.

The du-lite blued finish was a matte finish there were no polished steel blue Remington Rands, if so they are refinished. Stamping cratering around the edges of the lettering will not be sharp and more even with the surface. A Rem Rand is still a catch what ever the condition. |
