A good leaf blower?
Any good recommendations on a small light weight gas powered model(I don't wont one of those giant back pack kinds). The engine on mine seized and I want one that last longer than 10 years before crapping out.

Two questions.
1. Does Stihl make one? If so, it will be kick-ass. 2. Have you considered electric? Almost everyone around us has electric and they work fine...unless you've really got a LOT of leaves to move. |

Echo. the vertical axis of the impeller is less stress on your wrist. they also make a vac / shredder version. look for a system with a primer bulb. the Stihl and other horizontal axis impellers will suck. in any event don't buy anything unless there's a servicing dealer close by.

I have a Husqvarna 125BT backpack type that isn't huge. It is several years old but starts first or second pull every time. My 4'11" petite wife can start it and use it with no problem.
I like the backpack type............it reminds me of my rucksack a long time ago.

I'm letting mine rot the way nature intended. I got tired of picking up 20 some bags of leaves. The yard looks as good if I did all the work of picking them up.

I let the wind blow mine to Texas.

I mulched mine, last fall. Was a bit worried about how MUCH mulch was created.
But, this spring the grass grew around, between and through that leaf mulch. I'm going to solve that leaf problem though, taking out all the old poplars. Damned things are getting downright dangerous. All of them are showing signs of dying, and those dead branches come down with every wind. I'm into planting a different tree, something that won't fall on me, in the wind. |

I mulch mine with the mower. I hate that high pitch sound of those things. I've seen people play with those blowers for a half hour trying to push a handful of leaves around in the yard that I could have picked up with a rake and shovel in about 2 minutes.

We always raked them into piles then used the blower to shred leaves into probably 20 large trash bags, the leaves were to big and to many to mulch. Normal leaf doping throughout the year was mulched into the grass.

A Rolls Royce RB211 in any dash number would make a fantastic leaf blower. It will blow away the leaves, sticks, rocks, neighbors and everything in between. Just gotta hold on tight.
