Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default A pair of 44's

Who doesn't like looking at some 44's? Oh, get your minds out of the gutter!

Top one is a Ruger Super Blackhawk with a 5-1/2" bbl., 2008 manufacture. The bottom is a Ruger Super Blackhawk with a 7-1/2" bbl., 1981 manufacture.

A former co-worker offered to sell me a Ruger Blackhawk in .45LC a few years ago. I offered him $400 for it and he said, "No".

I then asked him what he was gonna do with it. He said he'd find someone that'll offer him more.

2 weeks later I ran into him again and asked him if he still wanted to sell it. He said he sold it to a gun store. I asked him how much he got for it, he told me $325.

That said, hopefully this year I'll be able to find me a used Blackhawk or a Redhawk in .44 mag.

Nice .44's Sanders!

They both shoot differently, to me.

I love shooting both of them, but the one on the bottom seems to handle better. The one on top feels better in the hand, but is not as well balanced as the longer barreled version.

I have a matched pair of 45s...

I also have a Ruger Blackhawk in .44 Magnum and a S&W Mountain Gun in .44 Magnum but of course they don't match.

My only .44 is a Virginian Dragoon with 71/2 inch barrel. Kicks like a mule and leaves my hand red after just 6 rounds. Bought a cowboy rig with low slung holster the same day (early 80's), but this is no gun for doing a quick draw. At least not to me.

Those are every bit as well made as a Ruger.

It will kick as hard as your loads are made. Factory loads tend to run at the high end of the scales, too.

I was really impressed with the quality of fit and finish. The bluing is every bit as good as any Colt from the days when they were in their prime.

No. I couldn't find anyplace that had consecutive serial numbers when I bought mine. At that time there weren't many of the old style Vaqueros left. The company was tooling for the new style smaller frame Vaqueros.

The new Vaqueros are like Colts. You can't fire the heavy loads in the new ones that you can in the old style.

I added the free spin pawl and the lighter trigger springs and smoothed up the fire control on both of my Vaqueros. Sure made them faster to load and unload and a lighter trigger pull.

I've got a 7-1/2" one like the bottom one. It's my second most favorite pistol. I shoot mid-range magnum hand loads with 250 grain cast bullets or warm .44 specials.
Full power factory loads get uncomfortable, and expensive, pretty quick.

Had another one just like it about 20 years. A friend gave me a set of Pachmayr rubber grips. After about 10 shots, those things ripped the skin off the palm of my hand. I gave the grips to someone else who also gave them away after trying them.

I remember those Herters handguns. I always wanted one of those Herter's .401 PowerMag revolvers. In 1968 they cost $47. And before the gun control act you could have one mailed to your home. I never got around to buying one though.
