Bluebirds
A pair of bluebirds had taken up residence in a bird house in our day lily garden. The house is mounted to an old shovel with a cracked handle which makes it 'portable'.
Lately we've been watching the parents come and go almost non stop and hearing the baby birds making baby bird sounds each time a parent arrives with food. Today is the big day that the babies emerged from the house, ready to fly for the first time. I took this picture with one of the baby birds emerging from a vent. My wife took this picture with two babies getting ready to fly. We did get to see two take their first flight. I believe that there were 3 or 4 babies.

That's a neat birdhouse, too.

Birdhouse on a shovel. Now that has an interesting concept for movable bird homes.
A post with a ground spike, now why didn't I think of that earlier. |

I talked her out of buying it because I had two decrepit shovels at home, promising to make her one. Actually I have made two. One of them I put a window on the back hoping to view a nest. That one is still vacant. |

I have 'lots' of bird houses, and there's another concept I'm going to work on.
Thanks for the full picture RTO, hell, I am even a 'shovel collector.' |

Cool pics all around and bluebirds are sweet little critters. I've got
some finches of similar size and tune. |
