Gov. Mike DeWine said Tuesday that he will propose an increase in Ohio's gasoline tax — and it could be a sizable one — to fix and improve Ohio’s crumbling roads and bridges. The first-year Republican would not reveal the size of the proposed hike. DeWine told reporters the recommended increase would maintain the status quo of highway maintenance and some major projects. Only if 100% of the current gas tax has been spent on road maintenance for the last 5 years in a row. Any missing funds stolen for other pet projects must be returned in full FIRST. Every time the tax cookie jar is down to crumbs, politicians suddenly remember the roads and bridges they have refused to fix for the last twenty years and scream..."increase the gas tax." The gas tax is nothing more than a political slush fund that is misused and redistributed into politicians pockets. What a fucking scam.

Yep, they're trying that scam in Arizona, too. The roads are getting so bad most people probably won't gripe about it. Seems like the more money they raise to fix the roads the worse the roads get. Hmmm....

Politicians will steal the money to build themselves mansions and buy booze, drugs, child sex slaves, and the rest of the money they will waist on other liberal crap like paved bicycle trails (that no one will use}next to the un-repaired old roads that they wont fix

Cost of goods and services will go up as businesses and companies will just add their fuel costs on to the consumers. So essentially Ohio citizens will be paying twice at the pumps and at the stores.

A one cent increase in motor fuels taxes dedicated to the Highway Trust Fund would raise trust fund revenues by between $1.5 billion and $1.7 billion annually (Kile 2015).

Keep in mind this Ohio tax is a tax on a tax the Feds already impose on gasoline. Of which a good portion is to go to road repairs. You pay for that gallon of gas? Your paying and "AVERAGE" of 18.04 cents per gallon to the Fed..

I believe Pa has the highest gasoline tax right now... people who live close to the Ohio line go there because it's around 25 cents a gallon less.

After all everyone here has to pay for all those cardboard dummies Penndot has leaning on shovels at work sites... I was told by someone who works for the state they use substandard materials for ( job security ).
