Digging Spuds
Dug the first 2 rows of spuds yesterday and got right around 4 bushel so far. I have 4 more rows to dig, so if the pattern continues I'll have close to 15 or 16 bushel.
The red pontiacs did really well this year. Size wasn't overly impressive, but there was scads of them. Same thing with the kennebecs. But hey, they'll eat.

I like the red taters small anyway. Wash them, quarter them, and make buttered potatoes.

Love taters!
Harvested mine about a week ago. Didn't get very many, but don't have a big patch either.

My brother tried a new variety called Salems this year and they are supposed to keep better than the kennebacs. We'll see in a week or two. |

Now for a friendly bump just in case you've forgotten about the song.
I dig another 2 rows of spuds and the more I dig, the bigger they get. Still not huge, but definitely better than the first 2 rows. I was hoping for that, because where I had dug the first ones, nothing ever does as good there. But I got 4 bushel of the first 2, and 6 bushel of the next 2. |
