Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Thumbs up Digging Spuds

Dug the first 2 rows of spuds yesterday and got right around 4 bushel so far. I have 4 more rows to dig, so if the pattern continues I'll have close to 15 or 16 bushel.

The red pontiacs did really well this year. Size wasn't overly impressive, but there was scads of them. Same thing with the kennebecs.

But hey, they'll eat.

Approximately 50 pounds or two 5 gallon buckets full.

That's not exact, but really close.

Here's the officail definition:

bushel: a unit of dry measure for grain, fruit, etc., equal to 32 dry quarts or 4 pecks (35.2384 dry liters or 1.2445 cubic feet):

I like the red taters small anyway. Wash them, quarter them, and make buttered potatoes.

I sort of remember that song. I was about 6 years old or so I believe when that was popular.

Love taters!

Harvested mine about a week ago. Didn't get very many, but don't have a big patch either.

Red ones are definitely the best tasting, but the down side is they don't keep nearly as well. So we try and eat them first, just saving enough back for seed, and then eating the white secondly.

My brother tried a new variety called Salems this year and they are supposed to keep better than the kennebacs. We'll see in a week or two.

Now for a friendly bump just in case you've forgotten about the song.

I dig another 2 rows of spuds and the more I dig, the bigger they get. Still not huge, but definitely better than the first 2 rows. I was hoping for that, because where I had dug the first ones, nothing ever does as good there.

But I got 4 bushel of the first 2, and 6 bushel of the next 2.
