2 cases of MREs
I just bought two cases of MREs to take with me when I go camping out in the bush. I'll take a backpacking stove for making coffee and the MREs are all heater meals. I now need to get a Katadyn water filter to purify stream water.

You can get them cheaper from questionable sources and many of them are out of date. These are military issue and were manufactured in 2014.

Well, they have a good test date, so you have plenty of time. What is the bright red stick, some kind of tattle tale?

I've been carrying the Katadyn Hiker for several years, inside my Camelback backpack w/ 100 oz. bladder.
Haven't gotten sick, yet. I also drop a purification tablet in with the filtered water, though.

They arrived today. And as the temperature/time indicator shows they were stored in a climate controlled warehouse and are in perfect condition. The inner dot is the same color as the outside of the circle.
If they would have been stored in a hot warehouse the center red dot would darken. http://nsrdec.natick.army.mil/media/..._Indicator.pdf MREs by John Danley, on Flickr |

Pogo that is like $7.50 a meal that is not bad at all in an emergency power outage or camping. Hell by the time yah stock up on stuff to cook a meal those MREs are great. I am getting prepped to make Pemmican and will post the results in the food forum. Now that stuff is real mountain man Injun survival food.

I remember when the LRRP meals came out and everyone was trying to get them back in 68 or so? Damn those things were excellent compared to our steady diet of C rats.

ANYTIME...I could nab LRRP's over "C's" I did it in a second. Those were pretty damn good.
