Intrigued at a Mossberg 12" AOW
While at a gunshow yesterday in Eau Claire, WI, my eye caught a Mossberg 20 guage pistol grip shotgun with a 12" barrel. I asked the guy if I'd have to SBR the thing and he said no... you have to file for a AOW (Any Other Weapon) Certificate for only $5 tax stamp... wait for the paperwork and it's mine. I didn't know much about AOW guns and thought the $550 price was a bit high (maybe it was a fair deal...I don't know). He said it was born from the factory with a pistol grip & 12" barrel and falls under that category.
Looked like a handy little weapon! Learn something new everyday. |

Some of the older models were referred to as burglar guns. Ithaca made a few.

Here is the thing: A sawed off double barrel is a SBS which needs a $200 fee. A shortie pump is an AOW with a $5 stamp. The wait for ATF processing is about a year, so I hear.

I was reading a commentary on Moss. AOL shotguns on another site where they claimed if the gun came with no stock from the factory you could buy the conversion parts from Mossberg. I assume you would have to get the AOL license first before ordering.

I have an SWD made Mossberg 500 called 'The Rogue' with a 12" barrel. I've shot everything imaginable through that.

Before taking possession of it. Like the 11.5 inch R0923 Colt upper I just received for my M-16 that I am waiting on. The old NFA RULES APPLY means BATFE will charge you with intent.

Yup, just leave those parts at the dealer until your application is approved.
