Deep fry is a good tasting turkey. The hot grease sears the meat and holds in the moisture

Well yes brining the turkey worked super good. The recipe called for 1 1/2 cups of salt I put just one in. Used the apple cider from Sanders link.
I never heard of brine but guess they have been doing it for eons? Like Pogo is saying deep frying sears the outside and for the oven give the brine a go. https://www.marthastewart.com/343940/turkey-brine

HOT THANKSGIVING TURKEY
Start by rubbing warm oil on my smooth pink skin. Thats right, all over me. Rub in in well. Now, spread my plump legs and stuff me. Yes, YES, STUFF ME...STUFF ME! And don't forget to baste me...............

1. Start a big fire in the smoker grill. Let it burn down.
2. Close the lid with vents open. 3. Wrap turkey in aluminum foil. Set in metal pan. 4. Cook for 1-2 hours depending on size of turkey. 5. At 160 degrees, you're done. 6. Enjoy. |
