Erik: Fantastic pics and what an incredible place to hunt. I have never hunted in a place so beautiful.
That pic of your wife with the two sleeping dogs is an award winner. |

she's gorgeous! I mean, the country side is gorgeous!
I want to jog over to that roaring stream photo and drink!...check out the local water borne parasites... pretty shotguns too. thanks for posting... looks like what geologists would refer to as Tundra or a little lower (wild guess of terrain I've onbly read about in Ranger Rick magazine..lol).... where's the puffins and blue footed boobies? how long does the sun shine there? napping while hunting? heheheh.... perhaps we could expect a humorous photo of the hunters and dogs asleep with the birds all hanging out and eating out of the backpacks... |

As for napping while hunting ptarmigan, the birds do so themselves between around 11:30 - 14:30, so there is less activity then and thus less for the dogs to smell. So it's customary to take a lunch break and a short snooze around the same time.

What kind of shotguns are you using? Yours looks like an old Husqvarna that I have.

PoGo, I was using my Beretta "Silver Hawk" in 20 gauge, which is one of my favorite shotguns for most uses since it fits me very well.
My wife was using a Holland&Holland 20 gauge which she had borrowed from her now deceased grandfather. When he died, her grandmother told her she would be getting it as a present, since my wife is the one in their family who is genuinely into hunting and shooting. However, her sneaky bitch of an aunt was able to convince her grandmother that "Daddy had promised me the gun", and took off with it before anyone knew what was going on... Which was complete , because my wifes grandfather personally told me that he hated her guts (with good reason), and that she wasn't going to get a single dollar from him when he died. Alas, that is how things go sometimes. It's a real pity though, since it would be much more appreciated as the beautiful and functional gun it is in my wifes hands, rather than in her aunts hands who just wants it to show off... |
