Tomato plants
I am growing some tomato plants in a 5 gallon bucket of water. There are 4 baskets of expanded clay that are flush mounted into the bucket lid. There are 7 or so plants growing with the tallest being 60" from the lid to the top of the plant.
The bucket of water has an air stone in the bottom of it attached to an air pump. I feed the plants with Miracle Grow every week. I also mounted the bucket on a plant dolly so that I can bring it into the garage on cold nights and move it outside during the day. The tomatoes are the vine type so they grow in clusters. Hopefully they will reach maturity before the real cold temps set in here. The plants are covered in small tomatoes.

I've also used this setup for growing arugula and Swiss Chard.

Now that's cool! Fresh tomatoes just about year round, that way.

Good man RTO. A series on about living and working in way north Alaska this woman is growing veggies like that in water. I don't know what her company is but she is kinda tough looking.
She has a pet fox hangs around with her and she blew a wolverines head off that was tracking it. Don't mess with her.

Well I am suspicious. Why not just get a bag of Black Kow?
Whats next? A set-up in the garage with high pressure sodium lights? Florida is practically a legal state now, just put them under a little tree cover to keep the airplanes from easily spotting them. |

Are you competing with that tomato tree Disney has? That one is awesome and it bears year after year and is well taken care of. Price of tomatoes will go up once we remove all the mexicans, so better start planting your own.

There's a local greenhouse operation, locally, that uses thermal energy to heat their facility in the Winter. They have some tomato "trees" that are several years old.
Their big market is in the Winter, around here, they get great prices for their 'maters. |
