Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default Top 10 British Phrases That Always Confuse The Rest of the World

Another valuable lesson regarding the common language that divides us.

https://youtu.be/fhYsOqIaU9k?t=234

A couple of clarifications:

Butcher's - I still catch myself using this term as shown in the clip
e.g. I'd better take a butcher's at that..." Then having to explain it to the
puzzled listener.

Chuffed to bits - That's an extremely polite way of saying the more
common phrase, Chuffed to fuck. Yes, when one is chuffed to fuck, one is
very happy. With or without the fucking part.

Sod's Law - Ah yes...the ubiquitous Sod.

Other uses:

You sod! Could mean 'You bastard/turd/jerk/arshole/fucker/wanker' or
myriad other negative and/or insulting terms.

Sod you! Something less than 'fuck you' and may be used as a mild rebuke
among friends. Otherwise rude.

Sod off! A mild way of saying 'fuck off', but much ruder than 'Scram!'
Famously uttered once by a British soldier to the Great White Whale Ted Kennedy.

What a sod! Another way of saying 'What a jerk/wanker/idiot/creep/prick/arsehole/etc.'

Sod all. Nothing, nix, nada, nil, nought, as in "I got sod all for it." When
getting nothing or next to nothing for a service or a trade. "I took her to a
fancy restaurant and a movie and got sod all for my trouble." I used it
many times in my younger days.

It can also be used as an adjective...sodding...in a rather negative way, such
as 'a sodding nuisance', 'no sodding way...', not a sodding chance', etc.

That's probably a little too much information, so I'll sod off now and do sod
all for the rest of the sodding evening.

Was the 'House of Saud' derived from this?

Bart

I asked my mother what ‘In a pig’s eye’ meant. She said, “In a pig’s ass.”

I left knowing no more than I did before but was left with a mental vignette of George Plipton or some other British wanker wearing a smoking jacket, smoking a cigar in a comfy chair, in a lavish upper crust study, sipping brandy with chello music playing and saying, “If one finds no meaning in a pig’s eye, then look in his oss!”

I never sought my mother as a source of information after that.

Yeah, maybe you're right, Tim - but from whom?

Americans?
