9mm the Best Pistol Defense for Brown Bears...Seriously??
Shot placement is everything.
Old Sam Foster (may he R.I.P.), one of the last professional bear hunters in Southern Arizona, only carried a Ruger Single Six in .22 Mag to kill black bears. He'd go right into their dens and pop them. It wasn't a bear that got Sam, but the cancer.

"Davy Crockett kilt him a bear when he was only 3" Did Davy Crockett hunt bears? King Of The Wild Frontier: Davy Crockett, The Man Who Showed ... He hunted deer, turkey, wild hogs, and especially bear which he had a particular passion for pursuing. He is recorded as killing over 105 bears in one year and legend has it that at one point, out of ammunition, and desperate to save his hunting dogs, Crockett killed a 600lb bear with a tomahawk and Bowie knife!Nov 29, 2021 https://theultimatepredator.com/king...0Bowie%20knife!

9mm is a a bit underpowered for tweakers,,I sure as hell wouldn't trust it to stop a bear unless you waited until he got close enough and put through the roof of his mouth when he growled..but who's waiting that long?
