I dug my first sand point water well
At my off-grid cabin, I pounded in my very first water well. It was HIGHLY successful, getting ice cold water. The water table was only 8'. I pounded it a total of 17'.
It wasn't easy. It took me two days of pounding. I used a T-post pounder with a logging chain wrapped around it for additional weight. At best, I could get 20 good hits before I was winded and had to sit down. That would yield me about 3-4 inches. I'd rest and repeat. This went on for 2 days. When I completed the mission, the wife immediately sent me on another. There was an abandoned well on the property that was dry. She asked (told) me to attach a 5' pipe, pound it in and see what happens. Sure enough, it worked like a charm! The abandoned well was only 11' deep with only 3' of water. I pounded it in another 5' and now the well point was sitting in 8' of water. Again.... Ice cold water! I'm 59 years old, with skinny pencil arms. If I can do it, anybody can. |
