Mr Squirrel eating cake
I tossed out a piece of cake yesterday for the birds. It got covered by snow pretty fast. I see Mr Squirrel found it first.

Squirrels at the VA will jump up on benches and eat peanut out of your hand. Very cool.

Connecticut I had 3 huge gray squirrels that would eat out of food bowls right next to my cats.

4th, doesn't that sparkly white stuff falling on Mr Squirrel's back look nice? It's too cold for snow and it's small ice particles. Don't you want to enjoy some of that?

We have a lot of big squirrels in this area, both red and grey and pine squirrels. And we have those pesky black squirrels and a variety of ground squirrels. The reason that I don't like Black squirrels are that they are bad at robbing bird eggs out of nests.
I always trap black squirrels and ground squirrels if I can and release them on Izaak Walton grounds. But I've had more problems with raccoons than any other animal. |

Years back I think it was Johnson wanted the damn squirrel and raccoon problem gone from the White House grounds to damn many of them tearing it up.
So he had a couple of his SS buddies have a hart trap them and release out of D.C. on some poor guys farm property. So Mr. Farmer says "WTF" over and follows the van back too the W.H.. Two can play this game. So Mr. farmer shows up at the W.H. fence and starts heaving live squirrel's and raccoons over the fence. "What the hell are you doing?" They got away I'm bringing them home for yah. Johnson hit the floor laughing. |

Years back I spent a lot of money on the ground squirrel eradication program.
I reckon it was really a waste of time and money, they are still around. We only have a few Raccoons around here, hit a big one with the wife's car once. She had a fit when I told her about it. "Didn't damage the car dear." |

I've always liked squirrels for some reason. Even when I used to do a lot of hunting I never wanted to shoot them. When I was a kid we had a snow-white squirrel living in a large maple in my parents' front yard for several years...I guess he/she was an albino but I never knew for sure.
Later when I was living in an old house with some buddies in college we had a bold Gray who would perch on the ledge of an open casement window. We put pretzels & chips on the ledge & he eventually became so tame he'd jump down on the coffee table we had by the TV in that room. We'd put food on the table & he would sit there eating the chips that were bigger than his head, watching tv & just chilling with us. |

I remember a small town that the city park had white grey squirrel in it.
Finally figured out that a local resident believed in selective breeding. Found out he was using his pellet gun to shoot the 'darker' squirrels, until the whites took over. |
