Low-calorie sugar substitute
I tried to cook a batch of chocolate cookies (with peanut butter chips in them) this evening. They turned out bland as shit. The only difference between the recipe is that I used a "low-calorie sugar substitute" instead of good ol' American white sugar. The cookies aren't inedible, they're just not any damn good. I dropped a piece, the damn dog wouldn't even eat it. Don't use this shit to make your sweets with. Complete waste of butter and cocoa powder.

Moon do not use that stuff..
Scientific lab testing has proven, lab rats fed a diet of 1,000 times their body weight of sugar substitutes that stuff.
It Caused their babies too be born with 5 eyes and 6 ears. Several of them even spoke in tongues. Heave that damn stuff out, or give it too a neighbor you don't like.

If you're using butter and cocoa powder, why are you trying to use a sugar substitute?
What brand are you using? Tried Splenda? Brian

FWIW ...
Now that Pepsi has a drink out with real sugar (instead of petrochemicals) as a sweetener we discovered something interesting. Instead of my wife drinking 3-4 diet colas, she drinks one with sugar and doesn't feel a craving to drink another for hours if at all. Same with me. The diet crap is NOT a satisfying drink, the Pepsi "Throwback" IS, and I was a confirmed Coca-Cola drinker (Well, if I was out of beer that is. ) Switching to the real sugar drink has cut our soft drink expenditure by more than half. And WAY easier on the stomach. NOT the corn syrup stuff either, sugar, after all sugar has been good for humans for about ten million years and counting. Honey is fine too, a local winery here bottles the best Mead I ever drank. Regards, ... Regards, ... |

You can cook/bake with Splenda but not with Equal or Nutra Sweet.

I use honey for a sweetener.
I could use Stevia, which is a natural sweetener made from the stevia plant leaves, but haven't tried it, yet. 5-Knives, before they had the Pepsi Throwback, I had my wife drinking Mexican Pepsi -- it is made with real sugar. I bet you can find Mexican Coca-Cola for sale around there. It's in the bottles, and made with real sugar. Seems the US is one of the only places where we are being poisoned by high fructose corn syrup in everything.

Mexican Coca-Cola is even sold in this area.
Glass bottles to boot. Haven't bought one yet though. |
