My youngest broke his hand
Taking my son today for ortho evaluation and most likely a cast, sure hoping the dr has good news about his broken bones in his palm that the X-ray says fractures are in his distal growth plates. Praying for the best since it’s his dominate hand and having short fingers could be problematic also sad that he got hurt just a week before his season starts and he was shut out last season to covid. Took him to a private tournament over the holidays he won first, he’s pretty down after having2 yrs off from competition and now will likely miss the entire season at his school team.

Dang, that sucks for the boy. A good ortho will take good care of him.

He will be just fine and how do I know?
I have broken every bone in my damn body except my head and neck.
The young heal super fast just make him listen to the Dr. and don't overdo it until it is healed. My legs hairline cracks about 10 times, ribs right side front and back. Wrist radial and ulna dislocated my hand. Right humorous cracked. Left clavicle snapped in 1/2 and now I have better rotation than before the injury. Both hips total replacement. Right shoulder total reverse replacement. Blown up beat up car wrecks. Check later their might be more I forgot.

He’s got a cast and expected to be cut off in 4 weeks, kind of like a boxers fracture but of the ring finger, his hand got crunched in a awkward position between the mat and the opponents heel. He might get lucky and get to wrestle the last couple of weeks of the season, but he will be at a big disadvantage losing his grip strength. Going to bring him back into the training room in 2 weeks to train and keep in some shape, just no live wrestling or sprawling and push-ups.
My rule in sports is no crying or throwing little bitch fits, he kept great composure after he got his hand busted, he got up off mat and stood against wall without tears, I figured he just jammed a finger or sprained his wrist. When we got in truck to go home that’s when said he heard a snap and he thinks it’s broken. |

He’s got a boxers fracture of the ring finger mostly and some real small fracture of the pinky metacarpal, next week he is scheduled to have the cast removed and X-rayed. He didn’t fracture it punching but from getting tweeked under another’s foot at wrestling. He plans on getting back to mat following week to be able to wrestle for the last few meets. Then I’m taking him to a few wrestling tournaments alone so he gets a few matches since last year it was a wash with everything being covid cancelled.

He’s doing fine and bones are healed, had a X-ray after cast taken off last week and he was back on the mat wrestling this weekend and took 3rd at a tournament but having strength issues in his wrist and fingers from having the cast on. In a couple of weeks he should be back nearly 100% with his grip strength.
