Garrison life sucked at Ft. Carson.
- Breaking into the mess hall at night with the crew. - A.W.O.L. Hey it was Christmas. - The jeep I rolled drunk. Think they were more upset with the 106 on it. - Pass on Friday. Get back on Tuesday. Thought it said 4 days. - Setting their maneuver range on fire. We were cold. - Choking a butter bar. He started it. Almost got Leavenworth with that one. - Refusing too get up for breakfast. Good fist fight with a black Sargent. Hell we just ate steak and eggs in your mess hall at 3 a.m.. Their is more. I am trying too think.

Oh yeah.. Tear gassing the Officers tent at Ft. Carson.
What. Were going too sleep outside on maneuvers in the cold, while they slept inside with a heater. Lead from the front. They went back too sleep with their gas masks on. |

Although, it was hard to hide the burning pinon tree, but the rest of the company was cold, too. No butterbar got close enough to me to let me choke him, either.

I looked at my DD 214. The code is R-1. I was stationed at Ft Carson too after my PCS from Vietnam.

Could have a rack of medals.. Contact a Veterans Service Officer, if you wish and get a form too appeal the decision. Person may have done something as simple as miss his ship leaving port and pissed off some jerk. Or Appeal Center for an appeal form. DD-Form 149. Or form DD-293.. Might be one of the two guys in my Company. Decided they had enough. Jumped a ship heading too California. Returned them too our Company and they were not allowed too have ammo. |

I have a G'son who went AWOL aboard ship.
Two week in a locker, friends bringing chow. Came out of hiding when ship docket at San Diego. SPs nailed him leaving ship. Threw him in the brig, then "detached" duty untill he received his UD. Just decided he didn't like the Navy anymore. I was a bit pissed at him, for what he did. He's a good boy though, has wife, two sons, and works! |

I had nightmares for over 30 years after I left the Marine Corps, always the exact same dream, 0600, reville and waking up back in the Corps. Panic, confusion, terror and OMG "How in Hell did I get back here?", "Where are my Wife and Kids?", and "What did they want me back for?" Then waking up soaked in sweat.
Thought it would end when I passed 45 (supposedly the oldest they could recall anyone at the time.) But I knew they can get you back any time they want to, one way or another. Still gives me shivers just remembering. Truth! Regards, ... |

I use to have dreams like that. After my enlistment I would sit out 3 or 4 years, then sign back up.This went on till I was over 40 needing special permission to get back in. PS: Tim,At Yorktown we use to break in the chow trialer for midrats(navy/marine talk for meals in the late PM).The trailer would always have eggs, milk, bread, and cheese for us to snack on.Everyone knew we were climbing thru a window.Should of just left the damn door open. |
