Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Question Optics for flat top AR's?

I have two DPMS 'Oracle' AR-15's.

One is set up with MagPul BUIS and a cheap ($35), BSA 'red dot' sight.

The other is new and I haven't done anything with it yet.

I'd like some opinions on other types of optics and what would work best for plinking and target shooting out to 400 yards (without breaking the bank account).

I know basically nothing about all the different types of optics.

Thank you.

I found a green LaserLyte model K-15 at a pawn shop for $100 out the door. It can be seen in daylight up to 100 yards and up to a mile away at night.

Check out YouTube channel Brent0331 (no space). He reviews scopes, one has the same reticle as the ACOG at a third the price. Active duty Marine who photographs through the scope, fires with it and explains in detail the features and philosophy behind them.

Hunter that is a super tough one to answer as the scopes and prices are virtually limitless now days.
Long range shooting here where Frogman, RTO, myself and some other members live in N. central Florida is 100 yds.. Hell and that's if we cut down some swamp cabbage.
My little SBRs I put a Bushnell under a 100$ red dots on.

Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 Red Dot Sight 1x 25mm 3 MOA Dot with Integral Weaver-Style Mount Matte

https://ads.midwayusa.com/product/59...xoCN9cQAvD_BwE

100 yds. hit a grapefruit size target all day long with the little inexpensive scope. Past 100 yds. nah unless your U.S. Marine White Feather.
Plinking target shooting low end will work just fine. $10,000 guided elk hunt in the Rocky Mountains? Yah might want to kick it up a notch or two.

The Marines at Khe Sanh someone took the .50 BMG and started firing single rounds like way way down range and hitting the bad guys. I wonder if that is where our .50 cal rifles like the Barret idea came from?

I would say the private sector had more to do with bringing out various .50 BMG rifles both bolt & semi autos. 50 Caliber Shooter Association been around long before the Barrett's. Makes me wonder WTF I did with my copies of Very High Power magazine.

O.K. but it sounds better that the U.S. Marines were splashing Victor Charles at two clicks with a .50 BMG fired in single shot.
A vet friend of mine was shot at by a what is it Chinese .51 version? He said he could not find a rest room and had to change his underwear.

Carlos Hatchcock mounted a Unertl scope on an M2 according to the book about him. My pothead POS BIL stole most of my sniping books. I truly hope bath salt nigqers eat his genitalia and that pile of shit he calls a face. Point is, I donít remember the name of the book.

Bushnell AR731306C TRS-25 3 MOA AR Optics Red Dot Sights with Hi-Rise Mount & Clamshell, Matte

https://www.amazon.com/Bushnell-AR73...70_&dpSrc=srch

O.K. now don't laugh anybody laughs I will get wicked pissed.
Now not 1 MOA but out too a hundred yards this little sucker works. Probably talking an easy 6 or less inch placement at a 100 and crystal clear. A hundred is long range down here in the swamps.
Further range shooting? Nah if yer lucky. Back when I owned guns and got rid of them cause my good bud 44044 taught me how bad they is hell this worked just fine. Further ranges go up the $$ range as yall are posting.

More than likely...

I bought a $50.00 raffle ticket on a

.50 BMG that was set up on an AR

type frame...it was massive...it seems

to me that it was worth about 5G IIRC

I plan on getting one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Primary-Arms-...ET2K4PCN4VZX80

I'll most likely put it on my FAL, though.

Here's the video Bluntforce mentioned:
