Leather Gloves: A "must have" for camping
I'm finding that leather gloves are an important tool when camping. Reaching into the fire to adjust logs, grab a hot frying pan or a bucket of boiling water. They make life so much easier.

Come on, be a man, grab that red hot pan with your bare hands, it will make you stronger.

The Marines come here 'Pain is good.' Damn thing is the older long time professional chefs grab that hot sheet with their bare hands and you can hear the sizzling. They have no nerves left in their fingers and don't feel a damn thing. |

I do use some heavy duty leather firemen gloves when I trim the Robellini palm trees, those suckers have thorns about 4 inches long, they are like hypodermic needles and they break inside your skin, they are bad, I've had to cut me open to get them out and I have eleven of them around the house. |

Last year I (mostly) cleaned up an old glass dump on my property by hand. The gloves that worked the best were the close-fitting rubber/silicone style. Even the sharpest shards wouldn't penetrate.
I'm in the middle of a construction project right now. After day 2 I pretty much ditched the gloves. They get in the way for many tasks: lining up boards, measuring, operating the nail gun trigger. |
