Dave Canterberry is hated on the Esee Knife forum. I heard if you mention his name on the forum they will ban you.
Bunch of knife collector posers that dont even use their knives, liberal types, on that forum anyway, and the owner seems like he is a whiny liberal too I dont know Canterberry or have a opinion on him myself. The shoeless hippie can go eat a lizard turd

I went through his Basic Survival class in October with my oldest daughter. It was well worth it. Forty percent of the class dropped before the end. They just gave up. The instructors will do everything they can to make sure you pass the class and get a certificate, as long as you show you aren't willing to give up.
Dave is a standup guy in person. A bit shorter than I thought he was, but a good guy. I think he is hated on the Esee forums because there was some business dealings between him and Esee way back when. I have no idea what they were, or how they turned out. There was even a Pathfinder School Tops knife in production at one time. Now he's making his own. I want a Pathfinder School Swiss Army Knife by Victorinox, but they seem to get sold out as soon as they get in stock.
