Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

I don't really see anything in your criteria that I can't do with a Savage M10 in .308 Win. only better. Better ammo availability plus I can change from a .308 to a .243, 22-250, 7-08, .358 Win, .338 Federal, or even a .257 Roberts in about 10 minutes with just a different barrel and a headspace gauge. If I want to go to a .223 I'll need a bolt face and a follower. Plus it will be more accurate, lighter to carry, and parts can't be cut off by an arbitrary import ban.

You have to remember that the ATF and the State Dept. has the ability to turn the spigot off on all of that cheap surplus 7.62x54R ammo anytime they wish without any kind of congressional approval. Turning about a half a million Mosins into jack handles.

Of course if you go Mosin, you could still buy enough ammo to flatten out the springs in your pick-up for what they're getting for a Garand or a Springfield these days. Plus a pair of Mosins make a pretty good set of oars for your boat. Hadn't thought about using one as a jack handle though, have to write that one down.....

FWIW ~ East German and Russian Makarovs (not the Baikal and Imez dealies with the target sights) are on the C&R list.

I bought my Makarov for under $100 several years ago. I've carried it more than I've shot. Nice little hideout gun.

I keep one EG Mak in my truck for carry and another EG Mak at bedside. I've put a lot rounds through both of them.

I didn't get as good a deal as Pogo but if I were to sell them I would make money. I don't believe that I'll ever sell them though.
