The gun looks clean...the only thing that I worry about is that cosmoline is in the bolt...I did not take the bolt apart......also the grease points.....do you use regular old all purpose bearing grease? Still hard for me to accept that they use grease on the friction points on the M1 Garand rifle...seems like dirt would get in it and make a real mess? |

It was really weird...the guys on CMP M1 Garand forum showed their M1 and it was caked with Cosmoline...and mine barely had any...and I am glad about that....I have had a few SKS rifles that had a ton of that crap on them and its a real pia to get off.

I was so excited about going out to the range that I forgot my hearing protection and my camera... I brought a couple targets home and took a pic of them...the windage n elevation knobs were way out of adjustment...wore myself out walking back n foth on the 100yrd range...checking each shot...trying to get it sighted in....the windage was about 4-5 clicks right of center slot...and the elevation was all the way down.....but I got it so it would put them fairly close together.....and the rest is my excitement over shooting my new M1 rifle....I luv itI was so excited about going out to the range that I forgot my hearing protection and my camera... I still have several clips of AP, but have a heck of a lot more 165 gr HP that I loaded for my piece.
They're all sittin' on a shelf, waiting to be emptied. Even though I have another '06, I load everything to pressures for the Garand. |
