It's walnut. I didn't put any stain on it. I put on many coats of hand rubbed oil.

You really do need to get at least one Garand.I have 14 of them now,and they are my all time favorites,if SHTF not picking up my M16 .30 cal is where its at.An M1 and some AP will do wonders.Good luck.

They are sweet and if I had the bucks I would pick one up but for me it's the FAL rifle. I have three, all rebuilds from kit guns and they run great.

20-25 years back when 308 surplus was dirt cheap I stocked up and the children will be well fed for many years.

Have you guys ever shot milspec ammo in a garand from a prone position? It is noticeably more snappy than an M14.

I have fired a many govt rounds thru a M1. I was issued a M1 in basic training. It was made by International Harvester.

My CMP Springfield M1 has an International Harvester stock on it.

When I was 16 I worked at a rifle range. Saw the range master blow up his M1 Garand with his reloads. Dude got all cut up in the face.
