A Medical Perspective On Ammunition And Lethality
My takeaway from the article: big bullets let more blood out than smaller bullets.

IT is very simple, size does mater and bullet design.

Yes I guess it does and that young lady sure emphasized it. Imagine the war of aggression with those huge mini balls sailing around?
Interesting also about shot placement versus caliber.

I’ve personally seen two GSWs to the heart where the person was still fighting when they were drug. One was a .380 and the other .22 lr.
Saw one that was shot point blank to the neck, chest, and groin with birdshot who was still pretty pissed off on arrival. The craziest CT I’ve ever seen, it looked like the night sky. I’ve seen over 100 GSWs. Nobody shot with a rifle or a 9mm, .40, or .45 to the heart or lungs ever made it to me. Don’t use birdshot, ball, or mouse guns if you want to get a bad guy to stop doing what he’s doing. |

Velocity...bullet weight and bullet design...all work or dont work together to provide lethality at varying distances.
Shot placement is always important and also varies upon weapon, range and my first sentence. IMHO.

John Moses Browning had this all figured out by 1911.

I love 1911s but I do not trust my life to one. For that it’s usually a G19.

Big bullets do matter.
I shot my first deer ever exactly one year from today. December 27, 2021. I stalked it to within 50 meters with a 12 gauge slug. Very clean kill. Deer went down almost immediately. This year I haven't been so fortunate. |
