Vehicle handgun securement?
What do you have in your vehicles, to store your handgun in, if you have to go somewhere like the V.A. Clinic, basically any .gov facility, and can't carry inside?
Share the links please. I'm looking at buying two. One for my Yukon, and one for my Silverado. Thanks. |

I am sure this wont be a popular answer. I keep mine right in the console. There was only one instance I needed to access my weapon. A person posing as a cop followed me into a parking lot. Before he could run up the side of my vehicle he was facing a .45 in his face. I dont think I could have accessed my weapon and got the drop on him had it been secured or too far out of my reach. Obviously it was not a cop, he would have known better than to run straight up to someones window. Called 911 and they never confirmed or denied if it was a real cop. I am thinking a dog catcher, prison transport or some other city position which issues badges. To my point I have forgot it was in there and left my car @ the dealer for repairs without incident. It has been in one of two vehicle consoles I have owned for 15 years now.

There are several makers of vehicle gun vaults. Try to find one that fits your needs, I reckon. I've seen some that slide under seats, behind the seat, on the floor, and up in the headliner.
I can tell you from my own bad experience that the console is the first place the thieves look during a break in. Then the glove box then under the seat. Smash and grabs are in and out in one minute or less. They know where most people keep their goodies.

If I'm in the vehicle, it's on my hip, or in a shoulder holster. I'm looking for secure storage options for when I have to leave it in the vehicle.
