I'm going to take my grandson kayaking today.....
The weather has finally cleared up. Looks like it's gonna be a great day. I might even do a little fishing too. I wouldn't eat any fish from the water we'll be in. It's been polluted up stream with too much farm runoff. Too much fertilizer and farm pesticides and other chemicals have been allowed to run off in that water for many years.

We're back. We paddled several miles upstream on Wildcat Creek, then we returned back to my truck. I didn't want to wear him out. He's been kayaking before, but not that many times. It takes a while to build the muscles for kayaking.
I enjoyed it, and he's ready to go again. He said he wants to go on a longer trip next time. I know a good spot on Wildcat Creek about 30 miles West of here that is real good kayaking water. Some good challenging parts to go upstream on. I usually go upstream first, so that the last half of the trip is floating back downstream. It's easy to go real far floating downstream first, and then wish you hadn't went that far on your trip back. The AuSable River in Michigan and the Manistee River are great downstream only rivers. I'd like to take him up there sometime for a kayaking/camping/ATV riding trip. |
