Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default How useful are those plastic Coleman lantern cases?

I have two Coleman white gas lanterns, and one came with the subdued yellow plastic carrying case. I came across another one for like $3, and bought it - because, if you're unsure, it won't be there when you go back.

So, my question for all you experienced campers is - is this carrying case worth lugging around, or is it just a marketing ploy?

We carry our propane lanter in the black one with the yellow handle and it has been protected for a few years. It does not protect the mantles however, we install a new set every trip.

I no longer have any Coleman fuel lanterns. But I have two Coleman propane lanterns. I keep both of them in the plastic case when not using them. It does protect them from being damaged.

I also have a Coleman battery powered fluorescent lantern. It puts out good light and not nearly as much trouble as any kind of fuel lantern.

Pretty dang useful. I haven't broken a globe since I started using one.

However; like Pogo, I quit using the white gas lanterns. I keep them around, and in good shape -- just in case. I'm using Coleman electric LED lanterns, now. They put out a lot of light, and I can run it in the tent with no worries. I've had the same set of D-Cell batteries in it since I bought it 4 years ago, and it still blazes on.

The three lanterns and one stove were given to me. I bought a second stove for $7 and restored it. So, I keep some of the white gas around to keep all of them fed.
I think I might break out the one stove and cook on it soon just for the heck of it.
