Forgotten Weapons: Japan's WWII Paratrooping Rifle Was Not the Best Idea
Did you know that Japan had a paratroop corps during World War Two? They trained and equipped this group in the late 1930s—with technical assistance from Germany, in fact.

I always thought that the Jap guns looked like they were made by beaners in Nogales Mexico.

Interesting rifles I wonder what they sold for? Here is one with a different breakdown method. Just under $3,000. http://www.armslist.com/posts/327912...eat-collector-

WWII Jap firearms were all shit. The only thing the Japs produced weapon wise that was worth anything was the Mitsubishi Zero.

I remember when they sold for $5.00 each and no buyers.
Now they are collectible 'non shooters.' |

Thousands of GI's did not come back from the Pacific theater because of "funky looking" Japanese weapons...remember.

Even 'Slam Fire' weapons can be employed, if there are enough in the hands of 'willing' participants. That doesn't take into account their tactics when facing superior firepower.
Close quarters 'combat' employing inferior weaponry can only last so long. Their 'snipers' were never long range trained, as a rule, all were short range and depended upon being concealed. Japan finally found out that large numbers didn't always count, in the final assessment of most battle scenarios. |

look at the sheer numbers of men involved in the battles, they could have used muskets and the death toll on each side still would have been huge. |
