Kel-Tec PMR-30
Saw these today,
Kel-Tec is a good company.I am really wanting one as there isn't anything else on the market close to it.I really like 22 magnum.I have a Savage 93 chambered in it.Its a good target round and small game taker. The PMR takes a 30 round mag.Not looking to get one for defense, just for fun.Its a shame that more handguns are not chambered in it.Mostly revolvers.

They had an even earlier version of it. I almost bought a few to get mine for free when I still had the FFL.
Compare it to FN's Five7 pistol. |

At first glance, I thought it was a .30 carbine.
Which would make a pretty slick autoloader, would it not?

The AMT was on the average, a high priced paperweight.
Most of them ONLY ever worked reliably with Winchester ammunition, and that for maybe one or two magazines then they needed cleaning. Knew three different guys that had them, all three performed as described. Very desirable, IMHO, if anyone had ever been able to make them function properly. Kel-Tec claims they have solved the problem with a gas operated/ recoil operated design that solves all the problems. Be nice if they did, that idea would make a VERY appealing "Woods Bumming/Trail Gun" for an awful lot of people. .22 mag is hard on most of the lighter soft armor also, VN era flak jackets don't slow em down much at all. Even out of a pistol. Be interesting to see how the new Kel-Tecs prove out. 30 Carbine pretty much sucks as a rifle cartridge, but she's hell on wheels for a handgun cartridge, several folks tried but AFAIK only the Ruger single actions ever stood up to the cartridge in the long haul. Interesting! As always JMHO, YMMV. Regards, ... |

The PMR-30 SMG is a full-auto only developmental prototype. It is not available for purchase, and was specifically created to prove that 30 rounds of rimmed 22 WMR can feed 100% reliably.

Kel-Tec is a privately-owned Florida corporation. George Kellgren is an owner and Chief Engineer. He is the Swedish designer who also designed many earlier Husqvarna (in Sweden), Swedish Interdynamics AB (in Sweden), Intratec, and Grendel brand firearms

If she'll run full auto she'll run semi. That's got a very practical look to it. I can imagine a ton of security and interior guard applications where that piece would be just the tool. (And I do not like SMG's ... but I think I could learn to love a PMR-30 in very short order) JMHO and maybe I'm a bit off my Meds today, but that whole concept has a great deal of practical potential. Should be out very soon.
My dealer is to hold 3 for me Hope to put out a range report be the end of the summer. Now if Davidsons will just get some so my dealer will get 'em in. Ive been waiting awhile and stocking up on ammo.....so WHERE IS IT?* *Supposed to be out 2nd quarter...or summer. And from pricing I have been looking at...$350 OTD with the Davidson' warrantee isnt bad (note not many dealers have that good a price break, but hangin out at the shop and helpin out alot has its benefits.)

Yup I see they aren't available yet.I certainly want one. Thanks for the insight 5Knives.
I used to order from Davidson's a lot.I would see something there in stock and just let my dealer know and he would get it from them.Davidson's has gotten pricey though compared to other distributors. |
