Powerful, shootable and, above all, versatile, in pistol-caliber long guns it’s tough to top the .357 Magnum.

I have always regreted selling my .357 Rossi rifle.
I made a lot of 200 yard kills on Jackrabbits with it. Now I have several thousand rounds of reloaded .357 and .38 specials and only hand guns to digest them. |

My brother-in-law has a Marlin 1894C with the 20" octagon barrel. That thing shoots like a laser beam out to 200 yards with his reloads. One year, at Thanksgiving, we were popping 1 lb. canisters of Tannerite with it, set up at 200 yards. Hold right on the white dot (which is all you could see of the canister) and BOOM!
I plan on getting a pistol caliber rifle, but keep wavering between .44 mag and .357, even though I'm a .44 mag guy. |

I have a Winchester 94 Trapper in .44 mag. It's a great little rifle for walking around in the woods.

Pistol caliber carbines are excellent for defense and most tasks people need a rifle for.

I have been shooting my Winchester model 1866 in .38 special a lot. It is a sweet shooting piece.

The .357 in a lever carbine is really a nice combo, but I prefer my Rossi mod.92 in .45 colt. I reload and I can get plinkers or bear busters. Love the big bullet.

That's what my cousin shoots. A lot of jackrabbits have met their match with that rifle. He gets a kick out of it because the bullet goes in one side and a ring of fur poofs out the other side.

One of these days I will have one of those, if I can quit buying the intermediate round semi-autos.

I really enjoy my Rossi .44 magnum. It's light, accurate and carries 10 rounds of .44 magnum. I haven't shot any .44 special out of it, but I'm sure it would be very soft shooting. Actually, I got the rifle for my wife. She doesn't care for the automatics. She likes her revolvers, pump actions and lever guns. I put a good looking leather lace on pussy pad on it for her. It tames the .44 magnum real well and looks good too. I would like to get one of Rossi's .357 lever guns some time. I like having revolver and rifle combinations that take the same caliber. Hell, the Dan Wesson and Ruger .44's we have weigh almost as much as our Rossi rifle.
