My chiropractor has gone a little crazy of late. He went and got himself a .500 S&W Snubnose. Less than 3". Wants to know if I want to shoot it. I shoot 44mag in everything from a S&W 10-5/8" silhouette down to a derringer and there ain't no way I'm taking him up on his offer.

I shot a Dessert Eagle in .50 and it was painful.
The owner told me I was holding on to it to tight and NOT to lock my elbows. Let it recoil. Damn thing gave me a nosebleed.

My favorite big bore handgun is my 4-5/8" Ruger Blackhawk. Load it up, load it down. Covers everything from jackrabbits to Brown bears. Mostly I shoot a load that clocks a 250 grn Keith bullet at about 860-880fps. Comfortable there. I've loaded some 316grn gas checked bullets to about 1300fps. Not comfortable at all but will probably kick the shit out of a brown bear if properly placed. When I carry it, is in a Diamond D chest holster.

Anyone ever shoot this short barrel Ruger?
A friend of mine has just bought a 380 Ruger version of the 'little' pistol. Says it's a little stiff. Can't wait to have a go at it. |
