Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Question Need help . . .

Is there a way to remove the glass liner from an old zinc plated mason jar lid without breaking the glass?

This is an example of the lids:

Cut the metal?

Or maybe heat it up...

Get about a dozen lids and cut the rings

Off half of them, and break the glass out

Of the rest of them...

Problem solved

Use the red rubber gaskets like we had years ago.
Pressure cooker compliant and some of them COULD be re-used.

I think the metal is 'pressed' onto the glass

I can't think of how you can separate them...

Are the ceramic parts crimped into the lid?

If so maybe a dremel tool and a careful hand to remove the crimp.

I think it's going to be one or the other, but you won't be able to save both if you intend to separate them.

I'm guessing they're porcelain lined. Maybe talk to someone that does sand blasting. Although, using enough to get rid of the porcelain would certainly erase the metal lid itself.

for that matter heat it up and shock cool it, but he said he wanted to save both?

I went back and reread the original post. Try soaking them in some denatured alcohol? Acetone?
