Need help . . .
Is there a way to remove the glass liner from an old zinc plated mason jar lid without breaking the glass?
This is an example of the lids: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Lot-...kAAOSwX~dWkZ4b

Cut the metal?
Or maybe heat it up... |

Oops, I didn't explain that I want to keep the metal lid intact also.

Get about a dozen lids and cut the rings
Off half of them, and break the glass out Of the rest of them... Problem solved |

Use the red rubber gaskets like we had years ago.
Pressure cooker compliant and some of them COULD be re-used. |

Bears, I want to separate the glass from the screw on lid without damaging either one.

I think the metal is 'pressed' onto the glass
I can't think of how you can separate them... |

Are the ceramic parts crimped into the lid?
If so maybe a dremel tool and a careful hand to remove the crimp.

I think it's going to be one or the other, but you won't be able to save both if you intend to separate them.

I'm guessing they're porcelain lined. Maybe talk to someone that does sand blasting. Although, using enough to get rid of the porcelain would certainly erase the metal lid itself.
