Not to stay away from but...
The P226 was a workhorse that was carried by many in LE, and a 20 round magazine was available for it from MEG-GAR...I know several people that have them that are very satisfied with them... Guns are Bad |

I have an older West Germany 226that when I got it I kept releasing the magazine while shooting. Sig gave me a stronger spring & it fixed it.

There is a certain trigger system that was designed for law enforcement applications that I've heard buggers up how the gun is supposed to function. Can't remember what they call it, though.
Now, my brother bought a P320 before he died, and he actually replaced his highly customized Kimber Ultra Carry 1911 with it as his daily carry - before he couldn't carry anything. He'd never owned a 9mm, but sure took to it quickly. If I were to buy a Sig tomorrow, I'd get one of those in the X-Carry version. Or, in the military M17 version that the Army recently adopted.

I have 3 Sigs. A P228, P229 and a 1911. All three high quality firearms.

I say stick with the classic P-series pistols. P220, P226, P228, P229, P239.
I've got a P239 in 9mm. Nice gun, slim, 8+1 (7+1 if you go .40 cal).

I've owned a couple of SIG pistols for going on 20 years now. A 226 in 9mm and a 250 compact in .45 ACP. Both are highly accurate and reliable as the day is long.

P226 is a solid gun. I carried one in my LEO days, 9mm no rail. It was a very comfortable shooter.

I have a S&W tactical and an MP5 both in .40 S&W. I have shot them both a lot. I like .40 cal. They have some power to them. I dont think I have heard anyone ragging on SIG pistols. A bit pricey...but....what good shit is not?
Time to place an order for more .40 ammo. |

No complaints on my P226 in 9mm.
We have a local Sportsmans Warehouse and they recently had a sale on Remington 9mm. 100 rounds for $24.99. Needless to say, I hit the 4 box limit.

I see a lot of .40's in the used market. I wonder if people can't handle them?

I have fired my S&W tactical enough to know it is not like firing a .50 desert eagle. If you can comfortably shoot a 1911.....then a .40 is no big deal.
I have been thinking about converting my MP 5/40, into a 10mm. Making it a "five and dime." All that needs done is a barrel change. Even uses same mags. The mp5 in .40....is not bad .... |
