Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default M1 standard sight swap to National Match

The front sight is self explanatory. The rear however I was wondering how far I need to go in swapping out parts? My rear apertureis off center as it is, but the rifle has the NM barrel, it might as well have the better sights.

I have done this...it required lapping the N.M rear sight aperture rails to fit in the N.M. rear sight base as well as grinding material off the bottom of the rear sight aperture so the sight would bottom out on the receiver.

I like the finer sights of the N.M. so i outfitted several of my rifles with them.

If I had half a brain, I'd put that on my Chink M-14.

I went with the smallest aperture size....i cant recall what that was off the top of my head...I know its stamped into the aperture...i also like the N.M. front sight blade and its thinner profile

I still need to upgrade, but the issued parts are pretty effective.

The rear sight aperture drum is FRAGILE...it will not withstand the knocking around the battle sight will. I always kept a rear sight protector over mine....AFTER...taking the line at the 600 yd slow fire segment of a NM course at Camp Perry...Firing two shots...and the drum fell off and left me with a 1/8" hole ...to sight through. I could see 4-5 targets at one time. You just can't bang those around.
