Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

gun Wyatt Earp Interview on GunFighting

Interesting interview. It sure sounds similar to advice I have read from "Wild Bill" Hickock. I'm sure Wyatt took that advice from him, as well.

Quote:
Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp (March 19, 1848 – January 13, 1929) was an American Old West gambler, a deputy sheriff in Pima County, and deputy town marshal in Tombstone, Arizona Territory, who took part in the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, during which lawmen killed three outlaw cowboys.

Here is an interview that Wyatt Earp shares his views on “gunfighting“. This was sometime in the 1910s he offered to give an interview about his thoughts on using a gun. In his own words, Wyatt is going to explain how he became one of the most feared and accurate gunslingers… even if he was about the slowest.
The interview was originally posted on primaryandsecondary . com forum.

Great interview. Although he didn't use these exact words, I believe he was trying to explain the concept of "slow is smooth and smooth is fast" when it comes to gun fighting. I thought he explained it rather well. ...and from experience.

Yes excellent article Sanders thank you. A good read to break up the insanity of the news these days.
Having talked to numerous people who have been in rather hair raising life and death close encounters one thing stuck in what they and Wyatt had to say.
You will only be as proficient as in how you practice practice practice. Close combat using your sights? Not a damn chance your going to point and shoot I bet the farm on that.
Hell how many of us practice drawing or even picking up our weapons and then begin firing? I don't but should. Practice speed reloading drop the old mag? Ah hell just like the range take your time.

A miss is just a hole you drilled in air. Don't matter how BIG the hole is...if it is not filled with BLOOD...it is still a miss.

I was born in the year 1919, Earp died in 1929.
I remember hearing talk of his 'recent demise.'

I bet that was the subject of many

conversations, at the time...

Probably was the headline on every

newspaper in the country

"Earp" is still not a name spoken with much fondness by the folks who have lived in area around Tombstone for several generations, like the Escapules. Tombstone itself has had a resurgence and been remade into quite a tourist trap.

Folks have moved there who idolize the Earp boys and have no clue that they were just a bunch of carpetbagging corrupt cops, and will want to fight you if you point it out. I don't think there is a more truthful saying than "The victors get to write the history books".

Personally, I don't believe Wyatt was a white hat hero. The facts prove otherwise. He was a pretty savvy fighter, though. For that, I give him respect.

From what I've seen, as a 'lawman', Robert Ford should have hung around and done him too.

The biography I have on him written turn of the century said the same as what Sanders mentions. The only difference between Earp and the "bad guys" was the badge. He proved you didn't have to be fast on the draw, just needed the nerve to take the time for a well aimed shot.
