Turkey shoot!
I'm off to a turkey shoot. Only, the harvest on this hunt is a frozen turkey, or two.
It is windy as hell, so I have selected for this hunt, my old Czech M24 Mauser. I will be shooting 196 gr. bullets at a maximum of 200 yards. I'm thinking the heavier bullet will give me an advantage over all the .223-.243 shooters. For any side matches, I have the 1911 with my light reloads. A Ruger Single Six in .22LR, and my Beretta Outlander shotgun. That should cover everything but the archery and muzzle loader portion of the shoot. The muzzleloader is patched round ball only. Mine doesn't shoot patched round ball very well - too tight of a twist.

Well, it was a bust. I got up there, and the only shooting they were doing was with traditional muzzle loaders and patched-round ball only.
I was pretty stoked for the day's events, but I guess their idea of a turkey shoot and mine were two different things. I used to shoot one every year in Patagonia, Az that was hosted by the VFW. You could shoot pretty much anything, as long as it was open sights. So, I went over to the shotgun club I belong to, to see if I could get a few rounds of 5-stand sporting clays in, but it was even more windy there, so I went home. |

Well, you tried to have fun...better than pressure cleaning the pool deck...which I did.

I didn't know my credit score was THAT high - where they pretty much said, "Whatever you want, Mr. Sanders, and at 2.25 percent and no money down." The '01 Buick was getting ready to get mucho expensive on me, so I figured I'd better get rid of it. |
