Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Flashing Arrow Half of US adults have high blood pressure in new guidelines

New guidelines lower the threshold for high blood pressure, adding 30 million Americans to those who have the condition, which now plagues nearly half of U.S. adults.

High pressure, which for decades has been a top reading of at least 140 or a bottom one of 90, drops to 130 over 80 in advice announced Monday by a dozen medical groups.

The change means an additional 14 percent of U.S. adults have the problem, but only 2 percent of these newly added people need medication right away; the rest should try healthier lifestyles, which get much stronger emphasis in the new advice. Poor diets, lack of exercise and other bad habits cause 90 percent of high blood pressure.

I go to 3 different docs twice a year at least. When the nurse checks my BP it almost always reads waaaaay high. I ask her to wait a few minutes and check it again and then it is normal (for me) at the 130s over 80s.

I have 'white coat syndrome'. Could be the long drive there through bad, thick traffic, don't know.

The VA furnished me with a new BP monitor at no charge. I already had one but my PCP insisted that I use the new one, so I do.

So by these new guidelines it looks like I may have borderline high BP.

I have low blood pressure. A couple of years ago when I got sick I was admitted to the hospital. My blood pressure dropped to 74 over 48. They moved me into critical care. I told them that's lower than usual but I always have low BP.

Just another way to help Big Pharm bring in a new customer base.

Don't trust those dam machines. Old fashioned way is much better( IMO)

Had a bad spike a few years back. 206/104 iirc. That was a bad day.

Ditto the above. It's all about selling more meds. Washington DC loves this kind of crap. More meds, more control.

I recently lost about 20 lbs and my blood pressure came back down to normal. Weight is a major factor in HBP but by no means the only one.
Took 20 lbs off with the John Candy pizza, beer and cigarette's diet for two weeks straight.

I've had 130/90 for as long as I can remember, a doctor gave me some pills once they almost killed me so I stopped taking them after the 4th one. Went for eye surgery and most people get an increase because of apprehension, mine stayed so normal the nurse was impressed. In the medical field you can not judge all the people the same, my dad used to say.

Good deal. You are going to feel a lot better. While there are a few overweight people who are healthy and live to be 100, they are the exception.

Being overweight cuts years off your life. Being overweight leads to diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack, sleep apnea, joint pain, and lower quality of life.

I could die tomorrow. But I have much better odds of I can keep my weight down.

I'm far from being over weight. Down to 175 the last few years.
My BP has always been in the 'low' range all my life.
The tread mill stress test impressed the Docs many times.
Even in my 60s I could get into the 'run' mode for a while.

Shit, now I can't even walk without my cane.
Three legged running is out also.
