I'm making some progress
I've got the floor (deck to make 5Knives happy ) cut out and glassed on the underside. I've
put marine undercoat on the topside. And I'm starting to rivet it in place. I still have to rivet in aluminum braces around the bilge opening and the live well. I'll give it one coat of marine enamel after I'm done riveting it in place. I have my Grizzly Grip rubber coating ordered. I should have it by end of the week. I still need to make a new console for the steering and controls. That brown stuff is sawdust from using a hole saw to cut out for the seat base.

Looks good enough to go fishing in. At least it's clean.

Don't forget the important stuff, like having enough cold beer storage, and perhaps a clay thrower bolted to the transom.

I got a little more done today. I installed the fish live well and the fittings. And I fitted the upper deck parts. I've still got to prime and paint some of the upper deck parts. And I'm going to put the truck bed coating on both sides of the upper deck parts because of the live well.
And I got all of the lower deck riveted down. Next is the steering and control console. I hope my truck bed coating stuff arrives by the end of the week. Here is the original bilge access grate. I don't know what kind of wood it is. Probably either teak or mahogany, but none like I've used before. It just needs a little cleaning, then I'm going to put some preservative on it. |

I hope your covering it up at night. It's rained every night for a month here now. Looking good Chief.

Yeah, I'm pulling a tarp over it every night. It's rained here a couple of times, and slowed my progress. It's fairly waterproof right now except for that one piece of bare wood. The rest of it has been painted with marine primer and one coat of marine enamel. I've also sprayed some touch up where I've drilled holes.
I'll re-sand everything before I apply the rubber coat. I haven't got much headroom if I pull it into my garage. I'd rather work in the shade of my big old pin oak tree. |
