Along with your rations how have you provided for your water needs?
I don't have a well nor do I have provisions for one. I am trying to figure out the water issue and I would like some pointers. I am within one mile of a lake but any water from it is undrinkable without filtration that can remove both bacteria, chemicals and metals.

We use to party a lot at my place. On Sunday I would have 5 or 6 2 litres to clean and fill with water. Other than that look in to the sand and charcoal filters. You can make them with a couple of 5 gallon buckets. You can also get cartridge filters to go in to buckets that do the same thing.

With a 30,000 gal pool in the backyard I don't really worry.

I know where many wells are. Plus, I have the ability and equipment to drill a well, if I need to.
I also know how to operate and/or repair windmills. Plus, I have a Katadyn Hiker water filter and a supply of purification tablets.

We usually use one that has a little ball at the bottom that acts like a check valve to keep the water in. |

Depending upon the depth of your existing well, a pitcher pump will also work.
Just need a good sucker washer system. My water is, normally, at 29 feet, and a sucker pump is a bit tough to use. Sooo.... the pvc bucket system would be a viable alternative. It would also slide down alongside the current pump pipe (plastic) and leave it in place. Hoping that electrical power would be restored. |
