Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

That would work better than the old VW hood I used to use.

That's pretty slick. You can haul a lot on one of those.

Well FWIW, a few hints ...

I used to do a lot of winter camping in Central and Northern WI (mostly). 3 days to 2 week tripss, usually w/in 10 miles or less of Lake Superior.

Always went as light as possible and a kids plastic sled in the $20-30 range was always adequate for a few years, then buy another.

Main thing is stay dry don't sweat, and be sure your clothes and bedding are dried out daily. AND EAT A VERY HIGH CALORY DIET, 3500 to 5000 or so per day.... you need it, make up a batch of 'Hudson Bay Bread' ... you'l be glad you did!

For extended camping in the mid-west, wool and the new insulations rule, leave the down filled stuff at home.

I've slept comfortably down to -30 using a 3# bag, jon-e handwarmer in the bottom of the bag, heavy duty 'space blanket', and a foam pad. Below that you need a heavier bag or blankets.

Actually I came full circle to prefer wool blankets over sleeping bags, keep you warm when wet and dry out better than most sleeping bags.

Keep some 'Snickers' bars similar on hand, wake up cold, stoke uo the internal fire with a candy bar or two.

Contrary to old movies, sleep is good, too cold will wake you right up.

And minimal liquid after 1600-1700 or so for obvious reasons.

As always JMHO YMMV!

The outdoors in Winter is purely wonderful!

Good Luck and have fun!

Regards.

What you guys call fun, I call suffering. I turn on the heater when the temp gets below 60.
