Im putting up one in my back yard right now..........im setting the beams on simpson ties that get embedded in hollow cantera stone columns that will be filled with concrete and bolted into the 12x10 main wood beams on top.
Im sure you will persuade the contractor to do it right Aviator

The people that painted my roof and hung some gutters. The guttering held water and the paint was leftover from another job.
Gave them a bad review on on the BBB. It helped. |

I'm a contractor. (Not construction). I do excellent work. How excellent, you ask?
I work off site with little to no oversight. I see my real boss only once a year, if that. I get results. I've become indispensable to my employer. I can be fired at a moment's notice for any reason. My subordinates love me... Most of them anyhow. The customer loves me. I work cheap. I work hard. I cheerfully do dirty jobs others shy away from. |

By the way... The vast majority of contractors suck. If someone tells you they're a contractor, watch you wallet, hide your daughter and never turn your back!

Just had a great contractor finish up my new office. I'll recommend him to other Central Mizzery folks, if they don't already know him.
He put the finishing touches on the outside and in for a reasonable (not cheap and not expensive) and agreed upon price. He actually came in a little less on some add-ons, too. Brian

Here are just a sample of the problems i have had with contractors:
Contractor charge me for 4 laborers and then send 2 of them to the spec home he was building. They ask for money for materials (supposedly all the materials) and then buy half the material they need and pocket the rest and then hit you up for more money later claiming the first payment i gave them was just for half the materials needed. (drywall) contractor doesn't show up when he says he will...over and over Contractor i hired to install fireplaces is a drunk.....i climb on the roof to look at the fireplace vent pipe he installed and find a pile of budweiser bottles. Contractors definition of "high end work" doesn't even come close to my definition Etc...etc...etc.....i could go on forever I usually end up doing the tasks myself unless it requires a ton of laborers or highly specialized skill. |
