Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

On a side note. While building a 1897 trench gun, I got the heat shield from Sarco, what a frigging pain. Nowhere near a easy time, file this file that.recut this borethat. When I wrote a 1 star review, they never published it.
I bought things from Midway that were junk and they always posted my bad reviews, interesting.
I don’t necessarily like
Midway but have more respect over Sarco that refuses to post a negative review. Not to say everything I got from Sarco is junk, but makes you think.

Sarco the highest prices in the weapons industry. Try selling the A holes something they offer pennies on the dollar.
I e-mailed back "Go F#%K yourselves" they never responded.

I have a 1944, model '97 trench gun with all the US Ordinance markings. The former owner cut the heat shield off the bayonet adapter to "Make it look more cowboy." I just found and purchased an intact Winchester bayonet adapter $$$ for it and will be putting it back together.

Many Winchester 1897 shotguns have been bought by Cowboy Action shooters.

I will take some tomorrow and put em up.
We fired it a few times with 2 3/4 in low brass shells. It went boom but was not real happy with those shells. It needs 2 1/2 inch to feed and function I guess from what I read?
Dust Off Fred and myself put a few rounds through and figured we better shut down before we needed a seeing eye dog.

You can shoot 2 3/4" shells in a 1897 Winchester shotgun, but it will deform the shell. I don't know if it would cause any pressure buildup, probably not but it's not worth risking it.

The Winchester 97 was originally designed to shoot 2 3/4” roll-crimp shells. If you want to shoot plastic 2 3/4 star crimp shells you need to find a gunsmith with a forcing cone reamer to lengthen the forcing cone to fit a star crimp shell.

There was a German gunsmith here named Franz Bryner. He said he had repaired tons of model 97 shotguns, and therefore advised against them. They are certainly a fun gun. But JMB came up with an improved design in the Ithaca 37. That being said, don't intentionally abuse a model 37 either.

I have one. They are fast shooters. Just hold the trigger back and keep pumping.
