Welcome to the site where the owners and members have had it with playing "nice" and being "inclusive" and "tolerant" of points of view that are destroying the fabric of what made this country great. The members here are sick and tired of politicians of all parties lying, deceiving, stealing, and pretending they are doing it all for the good of the country while selling out to special interests who have the set goal of destroying this country. We have had enough of career politicians who use their office only for personal gain, and who refuse to listen to the people who put them in office. The membership is no longer part of the silent majority who play nice and get along while getting screwed by anyone with a loud voice and an agenda. We will no longer allow anyone to piss down our back and tell us it's raining. And we like guns too.

Default Applying for C&R questions III type

I don't understand whether or not you have to send a fingerprint card with your prints on it to ATF if you are trying to get one. Do you? Can you buy your own and fingerprint yourself and notorize it and send it in?

Is the chief LEO the county sheriff or the chief of state police?

If it helps, I live in Baltimore MD.

I printed up the 8 page PDF from ATF's website successfully.

Should I go to a gunstore and get them to help me with it and pay them for whatever they charge for a normal transfer.

That is an option. I keep my C&R license up to date so that I can buy C&R firearms without having to wait to go through a dealer. I also receive "dealer specials" emails from some businesses which can save money on certain items.

This is my experience from living in Florida, I don't know how laws in Maryland apply to federal laws if there are any.

Chief LEO can also be your town's Chief of Police if you live inside the city limits. Outside of town, go with the County Sheriff.

So, you do not have to send in any fingerprints at all for a C&R?

I don't recollect having to do that, but that was in 2008 - and there's no indication of the requirement on the application form of that time.

I took another look at the form. I think that's for some other type of FFL. I'm just mulling over whether or not its worth my while. If I get discounts on ammo or shooting ranges, it might pay off!! I feel that Mausers or Mosins might...

.... multiply.

I got the FFL in the mail!! No problems or corrections needed.

Now where are those bound books at?

Best C&R first buy? I haven't decided yet.

whitelightning the big boys, retailers in the ammo and weapon related business usually, or used to, give a discount for C&Rs? Always ask when purchasing.
Some may request a copy to keep on file.

Send a copy to Brownell's and you'll get dealer pricing on many parts. They also sell a bound book, but you can find suitable substitutes online or make one yourself.

Read the regulations applicable to your state. Correctly documenting in your bound book what you acquire and/or sell off is the only real sticking point with having the license.

Don't let "friends" talk you into buying them guns with your license. That's a sure fire way to get your butt in a ringer. You are subject to a possible audit by the ATF, but those are a rarity for 03FFL holders.

Good luck.

By the way, you do know that you don't sign the original license, right? Only sign the copies.

Well yah kind of can sign the original Eightball. I got to kind of stuffing the paperwork in the C&R file box. I sent in for a new replacement of my C&R license so many times, the ATF finally told me they were going to send Spooky to visit my house if I signed it one more time.
I have seen Spooky on the Military Channel, that dude is a bad mo fo. I put the original in a safe deposit box. Don't want no Spooks coming to my house.

I was looking at the list book of eligible firearms. They have some AR-15 rifles from 1964 or so. Are those full auto M-16s or civilian semiautomatic rifles? We're there semiautomatic AR-15 type rifles of any sort in the 1960s?

They were in the NFA section.
